Red Ribbon Week

The Arlington Independent School District Red Ribbon Week 2009 will be Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30.
The National Red Ribbon Week 2009 Theme is "Drug Free is the Key"
Red Ribbon Week began after the death of Enrique "Kiki" Camarena of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency. To commemorate his efforts to stop illegal drug activities, citizens in his home town of Calexico, CA began wearing red ribbons. Subsequently, the California State PTA recognized a Red Ribbon Week and in 1988 this grew to a nation wide event sponsored by the National PTA. To learn the history of Red Ribbon Week, visit:
